Fruits oblong to elongate (22x12 cm) with 8 cm stalk moderately inserted, off-center, into single
ring of elongated sections. Pale yellow green. Rough with large, hard, pointed conical sections.
Seedless. Leaves symmetrical, moderately dissected with 2-4, mostly three pairs of close lobes on
upper half with huge, rounded tip. Dark, dull, smooth blade with green veins. Profuse short stiff
I hairs on upper veins. Underside rough with dense short hairs. Many short and a few appressed
hairs on lower veins. Tree -13 m.
Ethnobotany - Name ‘on’ means ‘ease’, named for its ease of pounding (Elbert 1972). Informant:
Bill Raynor. Popular early cultivar. Ripens immediately after Mei chon and Meiter, the earliest
cultivars. Good for boiling but not roasting.
