BREADFRUIT OF THE PACIFIC ISLANDS Ulu manua MORACEAE Artocarpus altilis Parkinson (Fosberg) Samoa Savai’i Island Saipipi Village Manu Lusila’s land. Near secondary school.Approximately 400 m inland. Growing inland of fale in plantation area, adjacent to taro patch surrounded by stone walls. No fruits. Large, round, similar to a soccer ball in size. Leaves distinctive, long and narrow, symmetrical. Deeply dissected with four narrow, pointed, occasionally notched lobes. Some leaves have four lobes on one side, five on the other. Dark, glossy, smooth, flexible blade with green veins. None to very few hairs on upper veins. Underside very rough with many short hairs on veins. Tree -9 m, DBH 26.2 cm.
