BREADFRUIT OF THE PACIFIC ISLANDS 'Ulu maa MORACEAE Artocarpus altilis (Parkinson) Fosberg Samoa , Savaii Island Fai’a’ai Fruits oblong (15cm) with short (6 cm) stalk. Yellow-green, relatively smooth with persistent black stigma. White flesh with seeds. Leaves moderately dissected with 4-5, mosdy four pairs of widely separated lobes with slightly undulate margins. Dull, flat, smooth, light-green blade with yellow-green veins. Numerous long white hairs on upper veins. Underside very rough with profuse short white hairs ort veins and blade. Similar to Ma’afala, but leaf margins not as undulate.
