Description:
dioecious species, locally abundant on undisturbed hill
slopes, tree to 14 m in height, 9.5 cm dbh, with several
staminate inflorescences, with feeding and breeding Thrips
antiaropsidis larvae and adults

This is a voucher specimen for the publication: Zerega, N.J.C.,
L.A. Mound, and G.D. Weiblen, 2004. Pollination in the New
Guinea endemic Antiaropsis decipens (Moraceae) is mediated by
a new species of thrips, Thrips antiaropsidis spec. nov.
(Thysanoptera: Thripidae), International Journal of Plant
Sciences, in press. This work was based on collaborative
research on plant insect relationships by the New Guinea
Binatang Research Center (Papua New Guinea) and the Bell
Museum of Natural History at the University of Minnesota (MIN)
with support from the US National Science Foundation.
