NZ274 Date: 6 Nov 2003 Collector: Nyree Zerega Locality: Baisarik village, Madang Province, Papua New Guinea Lat: S 05° 16’ Long: W 107° 24’ Alt. 250 m Habitat: Primary forest remnant near the village of Baisarik Description: dioecious species, locally abundant on undisturbed hill slopes, tree to 14 m in height, 9.5 cm dbh, with several staminate inflorescences, with feeding and breeding Thrips antiaropsidis larvae and adults Distribution: LAE, MIN, K, L, A, CANB, NY, US Notes: Determined by: Nyree Zerega This is a voucher specimen for the publication: Zerega, N.J.C., L.A. Mound, and G.D. Weiblen, 2004. Pollination in the New Guinea endemic Antiaropsis decipens (Moraceae) is mediated by a new species of thrips, Thrips antiaropsidis spec. nov. (Thysanoptera: Thripidae), International Journal of Plant Sciences, in press.
