PLANTS OF NEW GUINEA
Nothofagus cf. perryi
Associated with Castanopsis sp. as dominants in
the forest between about 1900 and 2100 m and
perhaps higher on the slopes; fine, tall, clean-
boled tree up to 40 m or more tall x 160 cm
diameter; bark gray, hard, shedding in irregular
plates; wood reddish, an excellent hardwood for
building purposes.
