    Tree 8 meters high, widely spreading; wood rather soft, that in the twigs easily breaking; old bark quite thick, coarsely checked, ferruginous; flowers greenish yellow, the base of the petals bright red; rare; leaves less green beneath, rather rough and very prominently veined beneath.
