Description
Immensely large tree; stem buttressed at the base, 5 feet thick above the buttresses, terete, straight, 75 feet high or higher; branches mainly toward the top, widely spreading; grayish brown, covered with minute yellowish brown lenticells; twigs smooth, yellowish green; leaves submembranous, horizontal or ascendingly recurved, deep green on the upper conduplicate surface, grayish green beneath; infrutescence ascending, terminal, the stalks grayish green, and only sparingly branched, 3 to 6 inches long; acorns more or less clustered, ovoid, ¾ inch long, nearly mature, hard, smooth, green or a trifle slightly glaucescent; cup ashy gray, shallow, quite smooth; "Ulayan".
