Habitat
on a dry forested ridge.

Description
Tree 35 feet high. Stem 2 feet thick, branched from the middle; the main ascending branches ultimately widely spreading; the twigs erect, comparatively short, numerous and forming dense bushes: wood hard, whitish on the outside at least, heavy tasteless with a faint "oak" odour; leaves ascendingly recurved, especially toward the tips; subchhartaceous, curvingly conduplicate on the upper side, sub-lucid and deep green above, greyish beneath, with the yellowish veins: young infrutescence erect, yellowish green as is also the cup which encloses the greater part of the smooth dark green acorn.
