PLANTS OF PAPUA NEW GUINEA FAGACEAE Lithocarpus celebicus (Miq.) Rehd. Det. By: W. Takeuchi, July 15, 1991 Field Char: Treelet c. 10 m tall; bark dark brown, slightly fissured, inner bark medium brown and strongly grooved; leaves coriaceous, dark glossy green above, grey green below, fruit capsule light tan-green. Notes: Nut shiny green. Very common in collection area, many plants in fruit; photos at BISH. Locality: Morobe Province: logging road near Markham Village, along the margin of Labu Swamp. Habitat: Lower slopes of buttress ridge, amoung regrowth on recently burnt ground. 50-100 m,006°43’S X 146°53’E W.
