  • Description

    Foliage chartaceous, descending, shining and usually folded upon the upper much deeper green surface, tips recurved; twigs and underside of young leaves pubescent; trunk 35 feet high 1½ foot thick, branched from the middle, the branchlets widely spreading and greyish white lenticelled; bark smoothish, greyish white mottled; wood whitish on the outside at least, hard and heavy; infrutescence sub-erect, terminal or from the second year old shoots; acorns mature, short ovoid, scarcely longer than ½ inch, nearly that across the middle; cups shallow, green and covered with a soft brown tomentum. "Ulayan".

that across below the middle; cups shallow, green and covered

specimens were collected of this same tree a few months
