  • Description

    A 50 fet high tree, old bark thick, brown, densely lenticelled, reddish beneath the skin; wood hard, heavy, odorless and tasteless, whitish; branches suberect, the ultimate ones crowded and forming bushes; leaves chartaceous, ascending, conduplicate on the upper shiny deep green surface, beneath much paler but not canescent, tips strongly recurved; young leaves rusty brown beneath; inflorescence (young) terminal, erect, brownish. "Ulayan". This tree stands next to Quercus 10511. The twigs are more numerous and congested, the color of the foliage give it a distinct appearance; they are also more pointed and not so flat; the underside of both the old and young leave serve as distinctive characterisers; the wood is not of the same color.
