  • Description

    Tree 40 feet high, with a round 2½ foot thick stem; main branches ascending, the ultimate ones rather numerous, forming an elongated dense crown; leaves coriaceous or chartaceous, ascendingly recurved, dark lucid green on the upper folded side, grayish green beneath, the young ones pale green above, furfurascence beneath; infrutescence sparingly branched, 6 to 12 inches long, erect or ascending; "Ulayan"; bark smoothish brown on the stem and gray on the branches; wood hard, heavy and brittle or burly, dirty white except the whitish sapwood, with the characteristic Oak-odor".
