    Large [sp] tree 50 or more feet high with a 3 foot thick stem; branches above the middle [?] rebranched; leaves chartaceous, mostly horizontal [?] ing with recurved tips, shallowly conduplic[?] [?] green upper side, copper yellowish beneath, [?] bark quite rough, yellowish; wood hard, br[ ?] whitish sapwood, odorless with a slight [?] upon 6 to 10 inches long spikes arising from [?] the twigs, usually only a few from the [?] spinescent, yellowish green, containing 3 [?].
