Ca. 0.75 mi N of Tennessee River along slopes of Middle Creek, N side TN Rt. 27 (Suck Creek Road) just NE of Chattanooga; vicinity of Signal Mountain. Elev. 700-800 ft. Loam and humus among outcrops and boulders of limy conglomerate and sandstone. Mesic to dry-mesic upland forest. Occasional to locally common shrub 1.5 m tall; leaves greyish beneath. Steven R.
