Habitat
Overgrown pasture and disturbed roadside banks; growing with M. floribundus but mostly restricted to thickets.

Description
Scraggly sprawling sub-shrub with branches 2-3 m long; hypanthia bright red; petals pink; large anthers deep pink to red, yellow below; small anthers yellow with pinkish cast; appendages yellow. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
