  • Description

    Rather crooked and gnarly suberect tree 20 or more feet high, with a 2 foot thick stem which is more or less ribbed, main branches from below the middle, ascending, ultimately numerously rebranched, twigs slender, erect, green; bark shredded, dull gray; wood softish, whitish, without odor, with a sweet taste; membranous leave pleasing green, on both sides, descending and conduplicate on the upper surface, the petiole and veins beneath yellowish green; inflorescence erect, terminal, profuse, giving the tree a blazing red appearance from a distance; flowers slightly odorous, the outer organs pale red, Irregular, the inner upper lip or organ deep red at the base and light yellow at the apex, subpendulous as are also the dull red bladdery fruits; "Taman-ag".
