P h y to geogr. value: A Mediterranean plant reported
also from Abyssinia and India.
The data of the occurence of 5. aspera in India and Abys-
sinia must be verified. It is probable that the Indian and Abys-
sinian plants belong to a different species or at least to a
different variety.
A common climber in the Palestinian Maqui, often met
with also in placed formerly occupied by Macjui but ndt com-
pletely devastated. In such places 5. aspera climBs on small
shrubs, on hedges, etc. and generally presents depressed vitality.
