Utrecht 1978 J CANNACEAE CANNA Linnaeus CANNA INDICA Linn.; Blanco FI. Filip. (1837) 6; ed. 2 (1845) 5; ed. 3> 1 (1877) 8, t. U. The Linnean species was apparently correctly interpreted by Blanco. It was undoubtedly introduced from Mexico by the Spaniards, but is now common and widely distributed in thé Philippines at low and medium altitudes in the settled areás. Its most common native (Tagalog) name is ticas-ticas. Illustrative specimen from Batangaá Province, Luzon, August, 1914 (Merrill: Species Blancoa/nae No. U7).
