  • Description

    Rather small tufts; stems thickened at the base, otherwise only 1/4 of an inch thick, green, more or less strongly recurved; leaves soft, membranous, paler beneath, flat but with recurred tips, ascending, the lower ones smaller; inflorescence terminal, few shortly branched, subtended by dried bracts; flowers erect, white; berries also erect, globose, soft and red when mature; meat white, fibrous, containing several angular brown seeds.
