Talasea, New Britain, altitude 2,600 ft.

Habitat: Partially burnt-over montane
forest dominated by Casuarina rumphiana.
Annot. Small tree; buttresses absent;
height 25 feet; d.b.h. 4 inches.
Bark dark grey, strongly checked, rather
rough; lenticels infrequent or absent.
BTaze light red-brown. Wood straw.
Odour and exudate absent. Leaves dark
green on upper surface; canscent on lower
surface. Flowers white. Local name
Nakoga.
