    Small tufts: stems several, strict, bulbose at the base, covered toward the base with persistent brown sheaths, 3-keeled, shiny smooth, yellowish green below the middle; leaves also smooth, light green; inflorescence yellowish green, the midrib of the glumes green the sides yellowish brown, when old wholly dull brown.
