The New York Botanical Garden Plants of BOLIVIA Salicaceae Populus alba L. det. M. Nee, 2010 DEPTO. SANTA CRUZ, Prov. Andrés Ibáñez, Santa Cruz de la Sierra, across (S) from entrance to the Zoológico, side street off the 3rd ring internal. 2 km NNW of central plaza of Santa Cruz. 17°45’37”S, 63°10’58”W. alt. 420 m. Small cultivated street tree, 7 m. tall, 15 cm. in diameter (the other one 20 cm. in diameter); with many small sprouts emerging from exposed roots at base of trees. This species very rare in Santa Cruz and these are the only I have noticed, along with more typical street trees like Melia azederach, Tababuia impetiginosa, Acrocomia aculeata, etc. Twigs rather brittle. Leaves dark green above, white below. No sign of flowering or fruiting on either tree. Coll.: M. Nee 57331 18 Dec. 2010 04324629 04324629
