  • Habitat

    Complex of mesic flatwoods, wet flatwoods, hydric hammock, wet prairie, depression marsh, dome swamp, and blackwater stream. Growing in treed mesic flatwoods, with dense Serenoa repens. This site recently burned within the last 6 months. Complex of Pinus elliotti var. densa, Serenoa repens, Spiranthes cf. praecox, Dichanthelium webberianum, Dichanthelium tenue, Syngonanthus flavidulus, Pluchea bacharis, Xyris verna, Fuirena sp., Eupatorium mohrii, Aristida beyrichiana, Quercus minima, Hypoxis juncea, and Pterocaulon pycnostachyum. Very sandy soil.

    Occasional. Foliage produces a wonderful minty-herbal-fruity fragrance when crushed. Flowers magenta-red. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
