Cenchrus echinatus Linnaeus, Spec. Plant., 1050, 1753.
Stems decumbent, ascending up to 30 or more cm. tall, branching from below. Leaf
blades up to 10 or more cm. long, somewhat scabrous. Fruit bristly, burlike, pubescent, in
loose racemes up to about 5 or more cm. long.
An obnoxious weed, common in waste areas and along roadsides (9654).
English name, sand-bur; native name, motie vihilago.
