Description
"Nos. 6 and 7, at least the latter, appear to be Pinus virginiana, which surprises me, for I have never seen that species in Gwinnett or any of the adjoining counties. Did they form a dense almost pre stand on rocky slopes, or did they grow in old fields? This species has a habit of growing in old fields somewhat south of its natural range." R. M. Harper reply to H. A. Allard. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
