Large tree ca. 25m tall. Fruit immature and green, old
fruits on ground black; endocarps woody, light brown;
fruit and endocarps triangular in cross section; cup-like
calyx remnant at base of fruit. Wild collected in, tag says,
“PNG, New Britain, North Solomons Province” [not sure
which province is intended?] by Dieter Mueller-Dombois.
Silica sample deposited in the BBG Lab tissue collection
and at the NTBG herbarium.
