Location
Venezuela. Aragua. Road Maracay to Ocumare, km 28, ca. 1.5 km above road. "Henri Pittier" National Park.

Habitat
Moist evergreen with some deciduous tree, emergents (Gyranthera caribensis) common, to 50 m tall. Forest dense, ca. 90 % canopy cover, with several large clearings locally due to tree falls. Sparse understory, mainly regenerating trees.

Description
Shrub 6 m tall, 6 trunks with average 6 cm D.B.H. Leaves fleshy, shiny, smooth both sides. Inflorescence terminal. Sepals 5, green; petals opposite sepals, 5, very pale green; style barely above receptacle, pale green; anthers beige, filaments pale green, erect, well above petals and stigma. Young fruit with green papillae, calyx persisting. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.
