Under Betula, in shade. Dry site, forming
dense stands. Infl. scabrous.
"Meadow steppe" on steep slopes with Betula
pendula groves. Vegetation 1-1.5 m tall,
dominated by Agropyron—Poa, Calamagrostis
epigeios, and Phlomis tuberosa, Campanula
bonanensis, Vicia amoena, Artemisia dracun-
culus, etc.
Ca. 2 km from Central Siberian Botanical
Garden, Akademgorodok, 28 km SSE of Novo-
sibirsk.
