  • Description

    Tree climber, branches quite numerous along the stem, rather slender, drooping, with tips suberect; stems 1½ inch thick, smoothish, gray, ringed; leaves densely crowded towards the ends of the ultimate branches; leaves shining, dull green, slenderly recurved, tough and flexible, slightly paler beneath, (the leaves have from a distance a dull glaucous appearance); infrutescent bracts much exceeded by the foliage leaves, the outer ones yellowish green with brown margins and central portion while their tips are green; the inner ones entirely light yellow except the purplish brown tips; the 3 erect staminate spikes also yellowish, soft but not wet, exceeded by nearly all the bracts of a strong sweet molasses like odor or that of certain candies.
