Description
Tufts, stems numerous, reddish at the base, slender, green along the middle, the upper leafless portion whitish, 3 to 5 feet high or long; leaves chiefly on the stem toward the base, the soft sheaths reddish, the blade flat, ascending, membranous, smooth, light green above, subglaucescent beneath; slender peduncles ascendingly recurved; spikes yellowish green: the spikelet's light green in anthesis but soon turning reddish brown; "Laguli-coran". rachis and stigmas reddish brown, anthers orange red;.
