Sorghum halepense (Linnaeus) Persoon, Syn. Plant. 1:101, 1805.
Stems stout, up to 1 or more m. tall, tufted, glabrous. Leaf blades up to SO or more
cm. long, margins scabrous. Spikelets ovate-lanceolate, appressed-hairy, awned, in racemes
which are in loose, pyramidal, paniculate clusters.
Occasional in waste areas and on rocky cliffs near the sea (9723). Eng- i
lish name, Johnson grass.
