Dear Dr. Zanoni:
Well do I know the Franc specimen to which you refer. Luc Chevalier
brought some fragments back from Paris with the note that it was collected
on Mt. Dzumac. On two occasions I spent several days searching in and
around Mt. Dzumac in the hopes of finding this plant. When I finally
located the original specimens in Paris there were several sheets. Some
said Mt. Dzumac and others said Hermitage. Some had very immature repro-
ductive structures. The "Hermitage" is a small resort on the top of a
high hill north of Mt. Koghis near Noumea. The plant is Juniperus
bermudiana. Let me know if this does not solve the problem for you and
I will certainly look at the specimen further.
Sincerely yours,
