Maas 1991 Mabaruma On farmland of Edwin Joseph, forest was cut down one year before; along Mauru Cr. Herb 3-4 m high, stemps clumping. Inflorescence basal, erect, ca 40 cm high, stem reddish tinged. Flowers orangish red, inside orangish yellow. Fruits dark purple to blackish when ripe with a strong, purple dye. Black seeds embedded in a orange-yellow pulp.
