Habitat
Periodically inundated marl wet prairie (currently dry) directly next to dirt road, with frequent limestone outcops. 'prairie islands' in a matrix Pinus elliottii & Sabal palmetto savanna; Taxodium distichum domes and swamps, and strand swamps and sloughs. With Aristida beyrichiana, Asclepias verticillata, Cladium jamaicense, Eriocaulon spp., Eryngium yuccifolium, Euthamia caroliniana, Heliotropium polyphyllum, Muhlenbergia capillaris, Pinguicula lutea, Pinguicula pumila, Rhynchospora spp., Sisyrinchium, Serenoa repens, and Spiranthes triloba.

Stems dull brick red. Flowers white. Labellum yellow to deep orange. Fragrant. Occasional along disturbed side of road. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fruit.
