From annotation affixed to sheet: The following annotation by D.D.Keck, 1945, appears on the Jepson Herbarium sheet: "Penstemon menziesii Hook. subsp. davidsonii (Greene) Piper X newberryi A. Gray. These two species bybridize freely where they grow adjacent in the Yosemite Park region and all degrees of recombination are found in such colonies."
