United States of America. California. About 50 yds. up from east shore of Upper Granite Lake, 10,600' (Gaylor Lakes Group), in upper northwest corner of a large south facing cirque at crest of Range. Tioga Pass 2 miles east over an 11,000' ridge. Yosemite National Park.

Growing in cracks in the granite in close association with Erigeron compositus. Uppermost edge of subalpine forest-a few prostrate Pinus albicaulis around southwest shore of Lake.
