ASTERACEAE
Herbs to 2ft tall, often less, locally common, ray petals white,
disk flowers yellow & becoming brown-maroon. Growing
along the edge of a trail in a shrubby meadow in a large
powerline right-of-way on a moderate north-facing slope, in
moist, rocky loam over metamorphic rock (Rock outcrop-
Hollis complex, 3-35% slopes; loamy, mixed, active, mesic
Lithic Dystrudepts). Growing with Acer rubrum, Aristida
dichotoma, Baptisia tinctoria, Betula populifolia, Carya
glabra, Danthonia sp., Deschampsia flexuosa, Dichanthelium
acuminatum, D. clandestinum, Diervilla lonicera, Euthamia
graminifolia, Helianthus divaricatus, Hypericum canadense,
Ionactis (Aster) linariifolius, Juncus greenei, Lespedeza
capitata, Linaria vulgaris, Lythrum salicaria, Polygala
sanguinea, Polytrichum sp., Populus tremuloides, Potentilla
sp., Prunuspensylvanica, Rhus typhina, Rhynchospora
capitellata, Rosa sp., Rubus flagellaris, Salix humilis (?),
Schizachyrium scoparium, Solidago bicolor, S. nemoralis, S.
puberula, S. rugosa, Spiraea sp., Spiranthes cernua,
Symphyotrichum laeve var. laeve (Aster laevis) & S. pilosum
var. pilosum (Aster pilosus). Horn Pond Mountain, Woburn,
