Herbs to 2ft tall, locally common, ray petals white, disk
flowers yellow & becoming brown. Growing at the edge of a
forest on a sunny roadside in sandy organic soil (Hurlock
sandy loam; coarse-loamy, siliceous, semiactive, mesic Typic
Endoaquults). Growing with Acer rubrum, Achillea
millefolium, Agalinis purpurea var. purpurea, Ambrosia
artemisiifolia, Andropogon glomeratus, A. virginicus, Aralia
spinosa, Aristida purpurascens, Aronia sp. (rare), Arthraxon
hispidus, Baptisia tinctoria, Bidens polylepis, Calamagrostis
coarctata (= C. cinnoides), Campsis radicans (rare),
Chamaecrista fasciculata, Chasmanthium laxum, Chimaphila
maculata (rare), Cladina subtenuis (= Cladonia subtenuis),
Clethra alnifolia, Desmodium paniculatum, Dichanthelium
scoparium, Diospyros virginiana, Diphasiastrum digitatum
