The New York Botanical Garden Moraceae Artocarpus mariannensis Trecul Det. N.C. Zerega, 2000 Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands: Saipan. Northern Saipan, off of road lying E of Asmatius. Growing in forest of primarily Barringtonia sp. trees. The forest floor was covered with Barringtonia sp. sprouting seeds. Tree ~30m. Leaves, entire (small young leaves) to 5-lobed. Most leaves were 3-lobed. Veins lime green above, red hairs below. Fruits high up appeared to be dark green and lumpy. No fruits found on ground, but saplings that weren’t attached to the parent tree were found, indicating that the fruits have seeds. White latext throughout. Local name Dugdug. N.C. Zerega 127 T.J.
