pAC The New York Botanical Garden Moraceae Artocarpus aliilis (Parkinson) Fosberg Det. N.C. Zerega, 2000 Federated States of Micronesia: Pohnpei. Near the ruins of Nan Madol on the property of Semense. Accompanied by guide Mark Kostka. Tree ~15m. Leaves deeply lobed, glabrous above, velcro-like pubescence below. Veins lime green above. The fruit gets to be about the size of fist, flowers are loosly packed. White latex throughout. Local name Mei serihseng or Meinseriseng (means "baby's cry" because the fruit cooks very quickly and can be quickly prepared for a crying baby). This is a rough (meinsahrek) variety. N.C.
