old horse and mule trail (in Theodore Herzog’s time, 1911),
between El Palo and Mataral, 1 km ESE of El Palo, and 0.4
km WSW of jet. of Vallegrande road and main highway in
Mataral.
18°06’55’S, 64° 13’07”W. alt. 1385 m.
Slight slopes and bottom of valley, grazed thorn scrub with
Neoraimondia herzogiana, Pereskia sacharosa, Cereus
comarapanus, Capparis speciosa and edges of cultivated
fields on flat.
Erect herbs; roots tuberous. No flowers fully open (10:55
A.M., cloudy bright), apparently yellow or perhaps reddish.
