514 ZM The New York Botanical Garden Plants of BOLIVIA Verbenaceae Lontana Depto. Santa Cruz, Prov. Florida, along what was the old horse and mule trail (in Theodore Herzog’s time, 1911), between El Palo and Mataral, 1 km ESE of El Palo, and 0.4 km WSW of jet. of Vallegrande road and main highway in Mataral. 18°06’55’S, 64° 13’07”W. alt. 1385 m. Slight slopes and bottom of valley, grazed thom scrub with Neoraimondia herzogiana, Pereskia sacharosa, Cereus comarapanus, Capparis speciosa and edges of cultivated fields on flat. Shrub 1.2 m. tall. Heads small and inconspicuous although the corolla is deep pink-purple, with a yellow eye at first. Fruit exposed, dark purplish. Coll.: M. Nee & J. M.
