3A n<* The New York Botanical Garden Plants of BOLIVIA Capparaceae Capparis speciosa Griseb. det.M. Nee, 2011 DEPTO. SANTA Cruz, Prov. Florida, along what was the old horse and mule trail (in Theodore Herzog’s time, 1911), between El Palo and Mataral, 1 km ESE of El Palo, and 0.4 km WSW of jet. of Vallegrande road and main highway in Mataral. 18°06’55’S, 64°13’07”W. alt. 1385 m. Slight slopes and bottom of valley, grazed thom scrub with Neoraimondia herzogiana, Pereskia sacharosa, Cereus comarapcmus, Capparis speciosa and edges of cultivated fields on flat. “alcaparro” Shrubs to 3 m. tall, common here. Fruit green, and the exocarp remaining so. Fruits falling to ground and sometimes the ripest ones separating into two parts along the sutures. Seeds white; pulp orange. The younger cut fruits with strong smell of cabbage (Brassica oleracea), the riper ones with a disagreeable odor.
