Depto. SANTA Cruz, Prov. Florida, along what was the
old horse and mule trail (in Theodore Herzog’s time, 1911),
between El Palo and Mataral, 1 km ESE of El Palo, and 0.4
km WSW of jet. of Vallegrande road and main highway in
Mataral.
18°06’55’S, 64° 13’07”W. alt. 1385 m.
Slight slopes and bottom of valley, grazed thom scrub with
Neoraimondia herzogiana, Pereskia sacharosa, Cereus
comarapanns, Cappctris speciosa and edges of cultivated
fields on flat.
Weak shrub, to 3 m. high when scrambling through other
shrubs. Flowers lightly fragrant (10:40 A.M., cloudy
bright). The flower face held vertically or slightly above the
vertical, the stamens arching upwards below the stigma.
Corolla rotate, white, with yellow star in center and orange
anthers.
