March 8, 1909 Dr« John K. Small US Kew York Botanical Garden Bronx Park, New York Pear Doctor Snail In looking up the matter concerning which you make inquiry X find that', in the original collection made "by Allen B. Burgess on the east coast of Florida number 647 is Chamaecvpa-r^» «ph^oidea. The specimen came from the flat, open, sandy plain near the light-house at Cape Canaveral« It hardly seems possible that your portion; of this number could be a Thuya, as it does not seem that he collected any specimens in that genus during his trip, so far at least as I have examined the list of his collections though rather cursorily.
