NEW YORK BOTANICAL GARDEN 04248279 BOTANICAL FLORA OF THE CAROLINE ISLANDS Mapania pandanophylla K. Schum. subsp. immersa (Kukenth.) T. Koyama CYPERACEAE CAROLINE ISLANDS KOSRAE: Malem Municipality. Summit region of Mt. Ohma. Cloud forest with low, epiphyte-covered trees of Elaeocarpus, Campnosperma, Pandanus, Meryta, Hibiscus tiliaceus, Syzygium, Sphaeropteris, and numerous ferns and bryophytes. Herb forming dense clumps near summit, leaves 1-1.5 m long, with peculiar inflorescence-like growths on both surfaces, beginning as blotches.
