Commercial cultivated ornamental treelet, 4 m. tall, 10 cm.
in diameter (16 cm. in diameter when cut down for wood
specimen on 14 Jan. 2019). Voucher for wood specimens at
Kw, Lw, MADw, MEXUw, RSAw, Penn State. Foliage
deeply purplish in summer, only the many, vigorous 1.5 m.
tall sprouts are green. Flowers abundant, lightly and
pleasantly fragrant, with somewhat musty odor; petals
white; filaments white; anthers pale tan.
