SA ZZo ECUADOR BIXACEAE [195] Cochlospermum orinocense (Kunth) Steud. det. D.A. Neill (MO), 2008 Morona-Santiago: Taisha Cantón Shuar village of Tukup, on south bank of Rio Macuma, about 2 km above its junction with the Rio Cangaime. Tall moist forest on nearly level plain. One-hectare forest inventory plot established by Tukup high school students in program supported by National Geographic Society "Genographic Legacy Fund". This site, about 2 km south of the Rio Macuma, somewhat swampy, parts of plot indundated after heavy rains. 23 Jul 2008 David A. Neill & Shuar Botany Team 16400 MISSOURI BOTANICAL GARDEN HERBARIUM (M0) 200 m Tree 20 m tall, with trunk 40 cm DBH. Trunk somewhat swollen at base. Wood rather soft. Flowers borne on leafless branches. Flowers bright yellow, very showy at a distance. This is the first record for Ecuador for Cochlospermum orinocense. Outside of 1-hectare tree plot, along trail from Tukup village. 04238344
