Smith (US) 2002 Gabon: Gamba Complex : Rabi; just south of Ossenge Camp. 1° 56' 00" S x 9° 53' 00" E, Elevation: 20 to 100 m. Tall grass field. Just south of Ossenge Camp. Herb/Shrub up to 1.5 m with long cane-like, heavily-armed branches from a base; prickles recurved; filaments bright pinkish purple with whitish bilobed anthers; flowers in heads, tepals (petals?) white; fruit green turning brown, umbellate, spined.
