The New York Botanical Garden Ericaceae Rhododendron perictymenoides (Michx.) Shinners Det. R. Cittadini, 2019 United States. New York: Bronx County. Bronx. NYBG, Azalea Way, west border of Thain Family Forest, opposite Azalea Garden. +40°51’39.23, -73°52’40.77, on slope. Only Rhododendron species in turf grass, shaded by overstory of ash, beech, viburnum and black diary, understory of snakeroot, viola, wild strawberry. Large rock outcrop on north side of plant, shaded with partial sun. Light pink inflorescence, leaves green, large shrub form <8’tall x wide, smaller shrub next to it, stems loaded with flowers towards end of bloom. 1822/2005*A; Stem, leaf, inflorescence.
